As a Christian, I highly value compassion and extol our Team Members to learn it from our Lord Jesus, who had compassion for man’s sufferings. He healed many and provided answers to many who needed help. The sharing of the Word of God is also part of compassion-with the people we serve and the colleagues we serve with.
Pastor Francis
Pastor Francis has always focused on bettering his faith and his community. For decades, he’s been heavily involved in his church—you can find him at the pulpit on Sundays, pointing young folks towards the Gospel. But, that wasn’t enough for Pastor Francis. He wanted his faith to be an even bigger part of
his life, and he began to look for other places to spread God’s love. Only one place remained.
When Pastor Francis and Dr Joshua founded Aroha Cancer Centre back in 2021, Pastor Francis made his mission clear: ACC was going to be a place of work and ministry. At that moment, the duo had no idea where to start, but they knew as long as they trusted the Lord, they were headed in the right direction.
They surrounded themselves with a team that supported their vision, and they began the slow and difficult process of a cultural transformation. Emphasizing the importance of a cohesive work culture, they initiated a practice of starting each week with devotions, fostering unity and alignment among team members.
Then, their services to the community started small with local initiatives that served the community with regular diagnosis, volunteer work, and charitable contributions.
And, while their efforts were fulfilling—and necessary—Pastor Francis internal vision still hadn’t come to fruition just yet. He couldn’t afford the equipment needed by the center and his medical team to serve more cancer patients in his community — to bring them closer to God and show them His love.
So, he came to us for help.
In 2021, we partnered with Aroha Cancer Centre and delivered capital to ACC to buy equipment for Cancer treatment. This has enabled the center to conduct 9,573 tests since installation.
Case study
Jane Karimi’s story epitomizes the transformative power of faith and compassionate care. Blessed with a loving family and a thriving business, Jane’s world was suddenly turned upside down when she received a diagnosis of gastric cancer in 2021. The news shook her to the core, thrusting her into a world of
uncertainty and fear.
In her search for healing and hope, Jane found herself at Aroha Cancer Centre. There, she encountered not only cutting-edge medical treatment but also a community of believers who surrounded her with love and support. Through swift diagnoses and personalized care, ACC not only offered Jane physical healing but also provided solace to her spirit during a time of great turmoil.
Integration of Faith
At ACC, faith is woven into the very fabric of its existence. Pastor Francis and the team understand that their work is not just about treating diseases but about ministering to the hearts and souls of those in need.
Every Tuesday morning, from 8 am to 9 am, the ACC team gathers for office devotionals. These sessions serve as a time of spiritual renewal and communal reflection, grounding the staff in the principles of love, compassion, and service.
During lunchtime each day, members of the ACC community have the opportunity to participate in prayer sessions. While attendance is optional, these moments of collective prayer provide a sacred space for individuals to seek solace, guidance, and strength in the presence of God.
All members of the ACC team share a common faith in Christ, united by a shared commitment to living out their values of love, compassion, and integrity in everything they do.
Aroha Cancer Centre remains steadfast in its mission to be a source of hope, healing, and compassion for all those affected by cancer. Guided by the principles of faith and service, Pastor Francis and the team are
committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of their patients, employees, and community.
As they look to the future, they remain dedicated to embodying the love of Christ in all that they do, knowing that through their collective efforts, they can bring light into even the darkest of places. With each test conducted, each patient treated, and each prayer uttered, ACC continues to fulfill its mission of bringing God’s love and healing to those in need.
